Michelle Yeoh Talks About Breaking Stereotypes and New Projects, Including ‘Everything Everywhere’ Sequel
Michelle Yeoh, the Malaysian actress, who has broken many stereotypes in Hollywood, has given an interview discussing diversity, equality and her upcoming projects such as ‘Everything Everywhere’. The star, who is best known for her roles in ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’, said that breaking the stereotypes is essential to bring the diversity in Hollywood and the entertainment industry.

Yeoh, who is known for doing her own stunts, said that the stereotype that women cannot do action films has been broken since the arrival of movies such as ‘Charlie’s Angels’. She believes that it’s time to break the other stereotypes, such as the notion that an Asian woman can only play specific roles, such as a cleaner, nurse or a maid. Yeoh believes that actors should be able to play roles regardless of their race or gender. She said, “our roles as actors should not be defined by our gender or ethnicity. We should be able to portray a variety of characters that represent people of all backgrounds”.
